This building located in downtown Palo Alto had many aspects to the project. The project was to paint the entire underground garage complete with re-stripping, railing painting, steam cleaning, specialty finishes and minor drywall replacement. In addition 2 sets of stairways (5 stories high) were to be completely re-painted and re-marked. On the rooftop all the peeling railings and fascia was to be prepped and painted. On the exterior of the building, all the windows were to be re-painted and re-caulked as needed to restore the buildings appearance.
The spec list for the project was extensive as each substrate required products designed specifically for its application. For example, all windows were painted with a Sherwin Williams DTM product designed to adhere and protect metal. The flooring paint in the stairways was a special no-slip paint for walkways and horizontal surfaces. On the railings, an oil-based semi-gloss paint was used to bring the shine and color back to the black railings.
For this project we had to file for an encroachment permit and put up scaffolding as the walkways were right under the scaffolding. We took care of all the permits and diverted the pedestrian traffic safely for the 2 weeks we were on the exterior of the building.
In summary, the building looks like new and you should have no problem noticing it’s new appearance on the downtown Palo Alto skyline.
